Objective:

The aim of the Studium Theologicum Salesianum Library is to support the cultural formation of the students pursuing their study of the first cycle of Theology in English.

Description:

The collection of books counts more than 36.000 titles in several languages: Italian, English, French, German, Spanish, Arabic and Hebrew.The fields of knowledge covered are: Philosophy; Dogmatic Theology; Sacred Scripture; Exegesis and Archaeology; Moral Theology; Canon Law; Patristic Writings; Church History; Spirituality; Pastoral Theology; Liturgy; Ecumenism and Oriental Churches; Judaism; Islam and Middle East.
The books are stored in a room with movable shelves. The research for books can be done through a database in a computer in the library or catalogue cards. An online database is available.
The library is also subscribes almost 100 academic periodicals.

Access:

The access to the library is reserved to the students and lecturers of STS but guests can be accepted after approval of the Librarian or the Principal. Open: 8.45 a.m. – 4.30 p.m. (Monday – Saturday)

History:

The majority of the books of the STS library came from the Salesian Study Center of Cremisan in 2004. This center started its academic activities in the beginning of the Twentieth century and has offered studies mainly in Italian.
After the transfer of the Salesian Study Center to Jerusalem and foundation of Studium Thelogicum Salesianum the language of studies became English. This change has influenced strongly the criteria for acquisition of new books.
